Diesel FAQSBook mark this page 1. Does adapter change the shift patterns on my truck -- 2001 crewcab with a
power stroke? 2. Would a dealer hassle me about warranty? Dodge says, "Certain changes that you might make to your truck do not, by themselves, void the warranties described in this book." Ford says, "Installation of a non-genuine Ford item . . . does not, in and of itself, render our warranty void." GM says, "If a Chevrolet part fails due to a defect in material or workmanship (and it is) not related to {an aftermarket product} or the labor to install it, Chevrolet would be responsible for covering the failed part." Otherwise if your aftermarket add on part caused my engine to fail, we will not warranty our engine. But it is very unlikely your installed performance chip can cause our waterpump to leak. Sooooooooooooooo.................... Only if your "add on" caused the problem. I installed a supercharger on my
Suburban and the transmission went out. The dealer said let's see what happened first.
When they took it apart, they found a broken clip, something that could not have been
caused by the driver, so they covered it in spite of my supercharger . . . but had the
input shaft spines been stripped, I would have paid for that new transmission. No brake
problem, no water pump, no alternator claim can be denied unless they can show the power
chip caused the failure. 3. Have you heard of a product called XXXX that apparently does nearly the same
as the Edge product? I like the idea of adding to the pulse width and saving the wear and tear on the pump. 4. How do I order the Edge product. 5. Might I expect any change in mileage with the Edge product. My truck is
seldom used as a tow but is loaded with people and gear at times. Others say they pick the 60 hp option because it still runs great but does not effect the mpgs that much. 6. How is the module for the PowerStroke installed? 7. Can I use the updates to do numerous trucks? No. Once used, the module cannot be used to "upgrade" another truck. But if you return to stock on truck #1, you can upgrade truck #2. Otherwise the software can only be loaded into one truck at a time.
