The Best Auto Parts According to Mark

Filters

We use Champ filters, but you may not be able to find these filters because they are predominately sold to installers.  But no matter what kind of car you have, insist on a name brand filter.  Look for Fram, Delco, Motorcraft, Purolator, Wix, Napa or Valvoline.  While you may not think the brand makes a difference, I’m convinced that brand names protect your engine better than those with a name you’ve never heard before or who live inside a plain white box.

However, sometimes you will find an original equipment (OE) filter made and marked by the manufacturer inside anyone’s box.  All filter companies purchase OE filters to rebox if that particular filter does not represent a large segment of the filter market.  Not too long ago, I found an orange Nissan filter inside a Champ box.   The selling price of the filter was about $35.  If I went to the local Nissan dealer, that same filter would have a selling price of just under $20.  So if was looking for an air filter and looked inside the box and saw an OE filter, I would call the dealer and price their air filter.

Fram - Delco - Valvoline - Champ

Motorcraft - Purolator - Wix - Napa
